Yesterday, May 13, Governor Hogan issued new guidance related to the reopening of some businesses in the state. Religious facilities were granted permission to reopen to the public with total number of persons in the building not to exceed 50% of the maximum occupancy rate. Montgomery County (where Calvary is located) has indicated it may NOT be prepared to open as quickly or as broadly as the state. We expect additional guidance from Montgomery County to follow.

Out of caution, and to allow time for our leaders to discuss reopening provisions, Calvary will not be open to the public for worship services until at least June 7th, 2020. Weekly services will continue to be recorded and made available online for viewing at home. It is our greatest desire to be able to join together in public, physical worship once again, but we want to make sure we are safe when doing so. Our leadership will continue to follow the news and best practices recommendations for religious facilities to determine when, and how, we might reopen safely.

Gov. Hogan, May 13, 2020:  a. Religious Facilities. Subject to applicable Local Orders, effective as of 5:00 p.m. on May 15, 2020, churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, and other similar religious facilities of any faith in the State of Maryland (“Religious Facilities”) may open to the general public, provided, however, that the total number of persons permitted in a Religious Facility at any one time shall not exceed 50% of that Religious Facility’s Maximum Occupancy (defined below).  May 13, 2020
