Changing Lives with God’s Love – that’s our mission!

We partner with a number of different community organizations, as well as hosting a variety of mission projects on our own. Our goal is to develop long-term relationships with those we serve in order to change lives in significant ways. Below you can read more about some of our long-term community partners as well as learn how to get involved with current events.

School Supply Drive with Montgomery Housing Partnership

Help us meet our goal of providing a backpack and supplies for 21 in-need children in our community this summer. Visit SignupGenius to view the list of needed items and sign up the donations you wish to contribute. Cash will be accepted also, to purchase remaining items. Please speak with Lori Schwartz for more information. ALL ITEMS MUST BE COLLECTED BY JULY 21, 2019.

Manna Food Center

Manna Food Center’s singular mission is to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County, Maryland. Through food distribution, education and advocacy, we are making strides on behalf of more than 78,000 county residents who experience hunger and food insecurity. Every Sunday food items are collected at Calvary to be delivered to the Manna Food Center. Calvary groups have also served great organization in a number of other ways. From Calvary to Tanzania

From Calvary to Tanzania is our effort to provide school supplies for students in several Tanzanian villages who may not otherwise have access to them. Items that many in America take for granted – pencils, notebooks, lined paper, rulers – are hard to come by in some places. We help by getting these items into the hands of students who can’t wait to use them. Our last collection of supplies was in November of 2015 and several Calvary families delivered the items to the students themselves.

A Wider Circle

A Wider Circle provides furniture and professional clothing to those in need. Our groups regularly volunteer at A Wider Circle to help load vehicles and sort items. We also encourage those who wish to donate furniture to deliver it to A Wider Circle’s warehouse or arrange to have it picked up. Visit A Wider Circle to learn more about this great community partner.

Shepherd’s Table

Shepherd’s Table is a nonprofit organization in downtown Silver Spring whose mission is to help people who are homeless or in need by providing basic services, including meals, social services, medical support, clothing, and other assistance in an effective and compassionate manner. Calvary members have volunteered at Shepherd’s Table as well as organizing regular collections of items to support their work.
