Welcome to Calvary!

We’re glad you are interested in visiting our church. You’ll find that Calvary is a diverse community of believers gathered around one central cause – bringing glory to God in our lives. We hope that you’ll join us at a weekend service. No need to dress a certain way or bring anything with you – just come as you are. You will find that we are not a perfect church or perfect people but thankfully we worship the One who is.

We celebrate one weekly worship service at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings. Our worship style is blended, with many different elements from the traditional church, as well as a wide range of music, including jazz, blues, gospel and all of the old favorite hymns.

We have an open-to-all adult Bible Study at 8:45 am on Sundays in the lower level of the building.

Kids
Kids are welcome at the service.  We have a parents’ room in the rear of the sanctuary where little ones can move around, but still participate in the service, if that is your preference. We also have KidsChurch for ages 2-12 which begins in the main sanctuary. After the Children’s Message, the kids leave for their classrooms and return for a blessing at the altar when their parents go to communion.

Sitting Service

For kids too young for KidsChurch, or for parents who just need a moment, we also offer a free-of-charge, sitting service from 8:45am to 12:00pm, which provides coverage for the Bible Study and Sunday service. The sitting service is located in the classroom nearest the Sanctuary.

Communion
We celebrate communion every Sunday, which is a chance to gather at the Lord’s table and receive forgiveness and the nourishing of our faith. We believe that God is truly present among us in the meal and, if you share this belief, you are welcome to join us at the table. We offer both wine (white) and non-alcoholic grape juice (red) from either individual cups or the shared common chalice.

Getting Here
We are located at Georgia Ave. and the Beltway: 9545 Georgia Ave. Silver Spring, MD 20910. Upon arrival you will notice the distinctive A-frame construction of the sanctuary. We have handicapped parking in the front of the church. All others are welcome to park in the grass along the side of the driveway, on the streets to the rear of the church, or in the parking lot on the south side of Flora Ave. which is used by Calvary on Sundays. There is no permit necessary for street parking on Saturday and Sunday.
